It is meant to serve as a tribute to the the nature of NC State as a STEM school, representing the majesty of our advanced engineering and technology programs. While it lacks the irony of a typical postmodern structure, it deals heavily in aesthetic. The slicing wing of the roof which wraps about the tower also does not contribute anything on a structural or practical level, but simply revels in the joy of design.
