Title A name given to the resource Székely Hungarian Ceramic Mug Subject The topic of the resource Ceramic Mug Description An account of the resource The ceramic mug is a piece of pottery made in the village of Korond (Corond in Romanian) within the Székely Land region in Eastern Transylvania which has a majority population of ethnic Hungarians. The mug was bought from a family of potters, one of many who live in the village of Korond. Specifically it was made by the Józsa family who have been producing pottery for generations. The mug is covered in flower motifs in brown and green earthy colors that seem tranquil and calming with their rounded, non-threatening shapes. On one side of the mug a bird is depicted with a branch in its beak which could perhaps be read into as a olive branch of piece being extended in a region that has been fraught with ethnic conflicts in the past. The mug is easy to hold and performs its duty as a functional piece of art that can be drunk from. The mug is also surprisingly durable, a fact that has been discovered accidentally on two occasions. It is both pleasing to the eye, functional to drink from, and able to withstand an accidental beating or two.
