Near the bottom of the photo, there are windshield wipers and surrounding cars nearby on the road indicating that this scene was captured inside of a traveling car. The surrounding green trees specify that the car is traveling through a rural area. There are raindrops on the front window of the car, revealing that rainfall had occurred not too long ago at this moment. Wells Fargo's long history and museum in Charlotte may have inspired them to create an artistic piece that captures the spirit of the city and why they are proud to have offices within it. It is also a pleasantly relaxing fountain located parallel to the building's entrance to invoke similar feelings with the brand Wells Fargo (symbolizing that you are in good hands with this bank). On the right side of the fountain there are two children holding onto each other further symbolizing the trust and support you will have with this bank. It also entices people to walk toward the entrance by having the fountain elevated along the stairs path. The smooth black stone lining the fountain also creates a serene feeling and makes this a relaxing location in the heart of Charlotte. Being made of wood, rather than the chrome that is more typical of kitchen implements, makes it appear to have been brought from the past. When I bought it, the description called it vintage but I do not have the year it was made, which would have provided more insight into the authenticity of the claim of its being vintage, rather than just a mimicry. The top rolls up like an old desk, further adding to the old-timey feel of the item. It is also utilitarian in addition to its outward design. The purpose of this item is to store bread and keep it fresh, which it actually does better than a Tupperware, despite not being airtight. The bread box is an inviting addition to the kitchen as it implies the owner bakes his own bread, a somewhat whimsical thing in today's day and age. Title A name given to the resource Hungarian Second World War Medal Subject The topic of the resource Military Medal Description An account of the resource A sun damaged Second World War medal from 1940. On the front side of the medal is a portrait of the last Hungarian monarch of Hungary, King Matyas I Hunyadi who had ruled from 1458-1490. The reason for his appearance on the medal was to stoke nationalistic sentiment as the medal was minted for soldiers who participated in the annexation of Northern Transylvania after the Second Vienna Award. His appearance on the medal stokes such nationalism as Matyas' family, the Hunyadi family, had been born in Transylvania and had ruled the region as dukes within the Kingdom of Hungary. As the region had been ceded to the Kingdom of Romania after the First World War, the reclamation of a disputed territory is represented by picturing one of the heroes of Hungarian history who had originated from the disputed region. The lettering around the portrait also proclaims the so-called rightful liberation of Northern Transylvania as just and part of re-building the nation. The reverse side of the medal features the medieval coat of arms of Transylvania which once more evokes a nostalgia for the past of a "greater" Hungary. The medal is made of zinc as it was a mass-produced medal for soldiers who took part in the securing of military positions in the newly annexed territory. The boat is available in different colors such as red, green, yellow, orange, blue, and black. The word "Super Air Nautique" is in big chrome letters that glow when passing by on the water. The boat also has a tower with racks to hook on wake boards and a cover to keep passengers in the shade. The boat also has handles in the back to help someone pull themselves into the boat from the water, a light in the front for sailing navigation, and hooks for tying up the boat. The purpose of the boat is for pure enjoyment of various water sports such as wakeboarding, wake skating, etc and also relaxation for riding around. The boat is a symbol of outdoors and water loving. Title A name given to the resource City Parking Meters Subject The topic of the resource City Parking/Transportation Description An account of the resource Starting in October 2019, the city of Raleigh began putting in new parking meters in some of its busiest areas. Some of the most obvious new features of these meters are that they are solar-powered, contain a backlit color screen, and also utilize a multilingual interface. The meter itself is taller, darker, and possesses a much sleeker and more modern design than the previous parking meters. All of these features make the meters appear to be an overall justified improvement. While the design of the new parking meters is meant to be visually appealing and eco-friendly, their installation was also accompanied by a three-hour extension of when users must pay, as well as a new rate of $1.50 an hour. Many signs in the area encourage the use of the Passport parking app, but doing so requires a credit card and an additional convenience fee. It is interesting to consider what implications these changes may have and how they may affect community members differently.
