Subject
Font designed for a musical organization called "Soots"
Description
This is a picture of a font designed for a musical organization called "Soots" (pronounced like "suits"). The organization is dedicated to the preservation of certain musical traditions of the South. The name is a kind of amalgamation of the words "sustaining" and "roots".
The font was made by starting off with a specific typewriter font and replacing several letters with different typewriter fonts. This template is a pangram, so it showcases what every single letter looks like in this font, uppercase and lowercase. This was made to be reminiscent of the fonts that would have been in use (for pamphlets, posters, banners, etc.) during the era of music in which the group is interested. The creation of the font makes the group's printed material feel more authentic to their theme and, having being made by the group itself, makes them unique and easily identifiable.
