The modern day basketball was not orginally used when the game was created. Soccer balls were used early on, and it was not until 1950 that the game adopted its own unique ball. The writing that was printed on the ball has been faded. That also indicates the loss of grip on the ball. The reason behind it is probably due to the amount of times it has been dribbled and shot. It is a part of the Wilson brand. It has the sterotypical orange color that is associated with the professional ball. The grooves are black and deep.
