Title

iPhone Breakdown

Description

This graphic by Visual Capitalist breaks down every part inside of an iphone and identifies where in the world it was manufactured. It answers the question, "How much has Apple outsourced its production?" which was a poignant topic back when this graphic was published in 2016.
The graphic breaks down an extremely complicated object and makes it simple to understand for those with no technology manufacturing experience: Here is the name of the part, and here's where it's from. It doesn't say what a DRAM does or why it needs three power amplifiers from three different locations, but that's not the information that's important to viewers. It streamlines the graphic by decolorizing everything into white lines to make each part easily identifiable, and the bubbles in the top half emulate the disparate parts of the world where each is from.
