Amazon Prime's comedy Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is about a woman who's "perfect life" is turned upside down, the catalyst for her becoming a comedienne in New York in the 50s. She uses her status as an upper east side housewife as a basis for her routines and often dresses in the way she is pictured here, in an evening gown and gloves. If not in this, then she is wearing traditional 50s housewife clothing (skirt sets, etc) in an effort to play up the juxtaposition of a woman of her status performing the role of comedienne in seedy nightclubs.
