Description

This is the logo that my brother-in-law designed for Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, one of Charlotte's oldest local breweries. Based just on the spelling of "Olde", this brand is intentionally drawing on their history as a long-time Charlotte brewery. The shape of the logo mirrors a coat of arms, which is emphasized by the segmentation of the acronym's background into three parts, and the top looks like the classic top of a castle. This makes the brand feel like it should fit into a Renaissance era. Below the main logo are shafts of barley and hops. This reminds the viewer that they are a brewery and makes them think about the flavors of beer that they like. The colors of the logo also work to make the viewer connect an experience of drinking a beer with this brand. The color of the castle-like portion of the logo is an amber-brown like a dark ale. The center of the logo also draws on the reputation and ethos of the company as Charlotte-based. The city of Charlotte has all of their advertising and marketing tied to the same green color that is in the center of this logo, so anyone from the Charlotte area would know right away that the company is in Mecklenburg county North Carolina.
